Buddha View's Instructor Development Course (IDC) of the month of May is starting in a few days. To participate in this IDC to become Staff Instructor, Shu had to get her Master Scuba Diving Trainer (MSDT) course finished first. For that matter she already has been signed off for the following Specialty Instructor: Oxygen Provider, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver and Underwater Naturalist.
The specialty that completes the list of at least five specialties, is Nitrox Diver. These specially marked Nitrox (enriched air) tanks are impatiently waiting on the boat to 'get wet'.
Instructor Sally shows how special procedures precede the use of Nitrox. The measuring instrument to determine the exact percentage of oxygen in the Nitrox tanks, seemed difficult to calibrate. It even needed ears to get the job done.
In contrast to what Shu's gaze suggests, she now knows more about Nitrox diving. The Nitrox specialty could be signed off and the road seems now clear for the training to become Staff Instructor.
