Skill circuit

This week the Instructor Development Course (IDC) at Buddha View Dive Resort started. Besides attending many lectures the candidates dive instructors have to learn how to teach dive students. One of these sections is to learn how to demonstrate diving skills.
In order to do the skill circuit Buddha View’s pool was specially reserved. Ed got some help into his BCD from fellow candidate Bart from the Netherlands.
As true Dutchmen - familiar with water – team Holland entered the pool first.
Soon the rest of the class led by Course Directors, Chris and Marco, supported by Leonie and Shu (also photographer of this report) as Staff Instructor candidates.
After a short general briefing, Ed joined Marco’s group along with team China (Wei and Julia) and Nedal from Germany.
Chris explains to his group that the next skill the candidates must demonstrate, is the controlled emergency swimming ascent.
For the uninitiated it seems that Ed is demonstrating a kind of underwater Kongfu. In reality, he asks his class mates to 'look' at him.
Now you would probably think that Ed just asked your attention for a demonstration of the 'Margarita' dance. A dive professional knows that Ed asked Nidal to turn off his tank to get ready to demonstrate the next skill.
Only when the needle nearly hits 0 bar, Ed should begin his demonstration.
With his tank closed and without air Ed demonstrates what to do in a real out of air situation while diving. You will have look within the triangle between chin and bottom of the ribcage of your buddy to find his alternate air source.
Probably caused by the previous demonstration resulting in a lack of oxygen, Ed saw some funny pictures at the surface - as if the heads of Julia and Wei were shifted from their bodies.
Shu however seems to suffer from another lack during the de-briefing of the pool session; lack of concentration?
